Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 iN Green
One of the most popular watches for divers on a budget, or those looking for a more affordable investment is back. Since 2011 when Oris first introduced their “Aquis” collection it has been praised for contemporary design, combined with resilient craftsmanship. This latest “Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400” first appeared in 2020 with the brand’s own movement, now it returns with a new green dialed option. The 43.5mm multi-piece case is made of stainless-steel with an overall brushed finish, mostly seen on the wide casebands. On the flip-side is a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features golden gears, a few exposed jewels, and an oscillating weight decorated with the Oris shield logo. Mounted to the case is a green unidirectional rotating bezel with a scratch-proof ceramic insert. It has been engraved with a 60-minute scale to assist divers with immersion times, although it can be easily used for other practical countdowns. It comes equipped with a stainless-steel screw-in crown that is protected by screwed on crown guards. Topped by a sapphire crystal domed on both sides with an anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance can reach up to 300 meters (984 feet). Time is exhibited on a gradient green dial with stainless-steel applied hour index markers, followed by smaller white printed minute index markers circling around its periphery. The gradient effect begins with a lush green center with a sunburst effect, which further composes the gradual shift in color that culminates with a dark, almost black flange. There is a date aperture located at the 6 o’clock position. The thick uneven central stainless-steel hands, the hour index markers and the circle found on the lollipop-style seconds hand, have all been fitted with a luminescent coating for an enhanced legibility.
