Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400
For those looking to take a calculated plunge into new depths, Oris has released a new "Aquis Date" model. We've seen this case design and dial layout before, but the true novelty is found within. Oris has chosen this model to debut their new entirely in-house developed caliber 400 mechanical movement, conceived by Beat Fischli, Oris's Chief Operating Officer. The 43.5mm case is made of stainless-steel with an exhibition case back, which showcases a view into this aforementioned new noteworthy mechanical movement by Oris. The Oris caliber 400 movement comes equipped with anti-magnetic components and a 10-year warranty. It is a major step forward by this reputable brand that further demonstrates the versatility and capabilities of their diver watches.Mounted to the case is a blue unidirectional rotating bezel with a scratch-proof ceramic insert. It has been engraved with a 60-minute scale to assist divers with immersion times, although it can be easily used for other practical countdowns. It comes equipped with a stainless-steel screw-in crown that is protected by screwed on crown guards. Topped by a sapphire crystal domed on both sides with an anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 300 meters (984 feet). Time is exhibited on a gradient blue dial very reminiscent of an ocean view that befits its “aqua” moniker and diver potential. It has stainless-steel applied hour index markers, followed by smaller white printed minute index markers circling around its periphery. There is a date aperture located at the 6 o’clock position. The thick uneven central stainless-steel hands, the hour index markers and the circle found on the needle-style seconds hand, have all been fitted with a luminescent coating for an enhanced legibility.
