Oris Aquis Chronograph
Oris has unveiled an updated version of the Aquis Chronograph, featuring a refined design that enhances both its aesthetic appeal and performance. Known for its bold and contemporary look, the Aquis line has become a cornerstone of the brand’s offerings, and this latest iteration brings notable improvements to the chronograph model. This new release features a gradient blue sunburst dial, and a reliable automatic movement, the new Aquis Chronograph is a worthy addition to Oris’s robust lineup of dive watches. The introduction of this model highlights Oris’s commitment to combining form and function in a timepiece that is as stylish as it is capable. The 43.5mm in diameter and 51mm lug-to-lug case is made of robust stainless-steel with a mix of brushed and polished finishes that add depth and visual interest. It is mounted by a unidirectional rotating bezel with a polished ceramic insert, which complements the gradient blue sunburst dial, creating a cohesive and striking appearance. Despite the watch’s substantial size, its ergonomically designed short and wide lugs ensure that it sits comfortably on the wrist without appearing overly large. On the flip side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. The caseback is screwed down, ensuring the watch’s robustness and water resistance. It features golden gears, purple jewels, and a glimpse of the movement’s signature red rotor, a hallmark of Oris’s craftsmanship. It comes equipped with a screw-down crown nestled between sturdy crown guards on the right side of the case, flanked by chronograph pushers for operating the stopwatch functions. Water resistance is rated at 300 meters (1,000 feet).Time is exhibited on a striking gradient blue sunburst that transitions smoothly from a deep, rich blue at the edges to a lighter shade towards the center. This design choice not only adds depth to the dial but also mimics the way sunlight penetrates the ocean, creating a captivating visual effect. The dial is equipped with three sub-dials arranged at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, replacing the previous 6, 9, and 12 o’clock layout. The 3 o’clock sub-dial serves as the 30-minute chronograph counter, the 6 o’clock sub-dial is a 12-hour register, and the 9 o’clock sub-dial displays the running seconds. The combination of the gradient dial, luminescent details, and polished ceramic bezel makes this new Oris Aquis Chronograph not only a functional tool but also a sophisticated timepiece suitable for various occasions. The date window, strategically placed at the 6 o’clock position within the 12-hour register, is subtly integrated without disrupting the symmetry of the dial.
