Omega kicks off 2026 with two new takes on the legendary Speedmaster Moonwatch: a classic stainless-steel model and a luxurious 18k Moonshine Gold edition, both featuring a polished black lacquered dial with contrasting white sub-dials. Known as a "reverse panda" configuration, this stylish dial layout enhances legibility while offering a fresh aesthetic on a timeless chronograph. Unveiled on the first Tuesday of the year, these new references reinforce Omega’s dedication to both legacy and innovation. The new Speedmaster Moonwatch “Black and White” models are built around the classic asymmetrical 42mm case, introduced in 2021 and rooted in the original Moonwatch worn during the Apollo missions. The case measures 13.18mm in height with a compact 47.5mm lug-to-lug, and is offered in either stainless-steel or Omega’s proprietary 18K Moonshine™ Gold. It combines polished bevels and brushed surfaces across the twisted lyre lugs and case flanks, with a sharp blend of modern finishing and vintage-inspired form.
Around back, the double-step screw-down caseback features a sapphire crystal insert that offers a full view of the hand-wound calibre 3861, showcasing Geneva waves, gold engravings, and the signature co-axial bridge layout. The see-through design confirms this model as part of the “sapphire sandwich” family, a popular Moonwatch variation known for both front and rear sapphire crystals.
Crown and pusher guards are built into the case flanks for added protection, with classic piston-style chronograph pushers placed symmetrically on the right side of the case. Water-resistance is rated at 50 meters (165 feet).
All topped by a box-shaped sapphire crystal offering distortion-free legibility while staying true to the Moonwatch’s vintage DNA. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (165 feet).
Both new models feature a classic stepped dial layout, enhanced by a high-gloss finish that brings a fresh, refined character to the Moonwatch. The main dial is executed in polished black lacquer, while the three sub-dials: small seconds, 30-minute counter, and 12-hour counter, are finished in contrasting white lacquer, creating the striking “reverse panda” effect. The crisp contrast delivers both vintage appeal and contemporary sharpness, maintaining full legibility.
On the stainless-steel model, the hour markers and applied Omega logo are rhodium-plated and paired with polished rhodium-plated hands.
The Moonshine™ Gold version elevates this layout with solid gold hour markers and hands, while the central chronograph seconds hand is PVD-coated in Moonshine Gold. Minute tracks are printed in white on the main dial and in black within the recessed white sub-dials.
Together with the glossy surfaces and layered architecture, the dial achieves a balance between functionality, aesthetic sophistication, and the unmistakable identity of the Speedmaster Moonwatch. In both editions, white Super-LumiNova is applied to all hands and indices, ensuring clear readability in low-light conditions.
