Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional with White Lacquer Dial
For many years, the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch in stainless steel has predominantly showcased a black dial, with the exception of special and limited editions. However, during an Omega event in November of the previous year, Daniel Craig, better known for donning a Seamaster in his role as James Bond was seen wearing a unique variant of the iconic Moonwatch that featured a light-colored dial. This was not the silver dial associated with the Canopus Gold Moonwatch, it had to be a steel version. And now, it's officially part of the permanent lineup, a Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional with a lacquered white dial has been introduced. The 42 mm case with a height of 13.2 mm is made of 316L stainless-steel with brushed surfaces, casebands and polished bevels for subtle contrast. In essence the classic asymmetrical case with the lyre style lugs we’ve come to expect. Mounted on the case is an external steel bezel with black aluminum insert providing a tachymeter scale. On the flip-side is a transparent sapphire exhibition case back that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Engraved along the steel periphery portion is the inscription “THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON”.It comes equipped with two push-pieces to operate the chronograph functions with a setting-crown in-between them. All topped by a box-type sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (167 feet). The time is displayed on a white lacquered, tiered dial (inspired by the Speedmaster reference ST 105.012), evoking the style of this model from the 1960s. Omega has made efforts to maintain the dial's fidelity to its original muse by incorporating an applied Ω symbol and using the classic vintage typeface for the “Speedmaster” label that appears in red. There are three sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at the 3 o’clock position; a 12-hour counter at the 6 o’clock position; and a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position. It features the well-known "Dot over Ninety," which denotes the placement of a dot close to the 90 on the tachymeter scale, along with a dot placed diagonally to 70, nuances that are cherished by ardent enthusiasts. The central hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with a luminescent filling, for an enhanced legibility. It also features a “teardrop” style chronograph hand with a red tip.
