Twelve years after launching the original Dark Side of the Moon, Omega has introduced a refined version of this all-ceramic Speedmaster, now equipped with the automatic Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9900 caliber. The updated model preserves the classic stealth aesthetic while incorporating subtle but significant ergonomic and technical improvements. Offered on either a black textile or rubber strap, it remains one of the most straightforward and legible versions in the lineup, staying true to the chronograph roots of the Speedmaster while leveraging modern movement tech and case construction.
The case of the updated Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon measures 44.25mm in diameter, with a thickness of 15.09mm and a lug-to-lug span of 50mm. Crafted entirely from black zirconium oxide ceramic, the case is fully brushed, including the faceted lugs and inward-angled flanks that reinforce the sculptural quality of the Speedmaster’s heritage silhouette. The black ceramic tachymeter bezel features white enamel-filled numerals and a Liquidmetal scale for optimal scratch resistance and contrast.
Around back, the case is fitted with a sapphire display window that reveals the updated Co-Axial 9900 movement. The outer ceramic edge of the caseback is engraved with standard model and METAS-certification markings, while the exhibition glass is clean and unobstructed, allowing for a full view of the decorated movement bridges and the dual-barrel architecture beneath the rotor.
A signed ceramic crown and pump-style chronograph pushers are set into the mid-case, blending seamlessly with the all-black motif. This version of the Dark Side of the Moon introduces a new two-plate black ceramic dial with laser-ablated brushing that plays subtly with light. Designed for clarity, the layout features two sunken subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock: the right side combines the 12-hour and 60-minute chronograph counters, while the left displays running seconds.
