Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer
For the first time, Omega integrates a worldtimer complication into the Planet Ocean collection, bringing a refined travel function to its Deep Black series. The Seamaster Planet Ocean has long been Omega’s most capable dive watch, known for its impressive depth ratings and robust construction. Now, for its 20th anniversary, Omega expands the collection with the Planet Ocean Worldtimer, housed in a black ceramic case with a full 600m water resistance. Available in two color variations, this model maintains the signature features of the Deep Black series while introducing a global time display, making it a compelling option for both divers and frequent travelers.
The 45.5mm case is crafted from brushed black ceramic [ZrO2] that ensures durability, scratch resistance, and a lightweight feel on the wrist. Omega retains the iconic twisted lyre lugs, reinforcing the collection’s signature design, while the ceramic bezel features a polished, laser-ablated diving scale in positive relief. The helium escape valve at 10 o’clock, also in ceramic, remains a crucial feature for saturation divers, allowing pressure equalization during extended underwater missions.
On the reverse side, the NAIAD Lock caseback ensures that all engravings are perfectly aligned while also providing easy access for servicing. The caseback is fitted with a sapphire crystal, offering an unobstructed view of the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8938, which powers this timepiece. Surrounding the exhibition window, the “PLANET OCEAN” and “600m / 2000ft” engravings emphasize the model’s impressive depth rating, while a discreet wave pattern adds a subtle nod to its maritime heritage.Completing the case design, the watch features a screw-in ceramic crown at 3 o’clock, bearing the Ω logo in turquoise or grey hybrid ceramic, depending on the model. The signature helium escape valve, positioned at 10 o’clock, is also crafted from ceramic and features the chemical symbol “He” in matching hybrid ceramic. Protecting the dial, a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating ensures optimal readability in various lighting conditions. Water resistance is rated at 600 meters (2000 feet), making this watch as capable in extreme underwater environments as it is on land.
The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer introduces a Grade 5 titanium central dial, showcasing a detailed world map viewed from above the North Pole.
This striking visual is achieved through varnish and laser ablation, creating a highly intricate representation of continents and oceans. Encircling this central feature, a 24-hour ring is printed on a transparent hesalite disc, divided into black and white sections to differentiate between night and day across time zones.
Moving outward, the primary hour chapter ring is crafted with a honeycomb texture, produced via laser ablation on a DLC-coated black surface. Large, applied hour markers feature a brushed finish, maintaining a bold and legible aesthetic. The date window, positioned at 6 o’clock, integrates smoothly with the dial’s layout, balancing the watch’s overall symmetry. The outermost section contains the city ring, presented in two-tone color schemes, either black and grey or black and turquoise, with Bienne replacing Paris as the reference for GMT+1, a tribute to Omega’s headquarters.
For visibility in low-light conditions, all hour markers and hands are filled with Super-LumiNova. On the turquoise-accented model, the brushed, grey PVD-coated hands and hour markers are filled with white Super-LumiNova, while the grey-accented version features diamond-polished, black PVD-coated hands and indices filled with Omega’s new grey Super-LumiNova. This attention to detail ensures outstanding legibility while maintaining a distinct and modern look.
