Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition
Omega has continually offered various watches linked to efforts towards environmental conservation. This time around they are releasing a new “Seamaster Diver 300M” to support the Nekton foundation.
As a leading UK not-for-profit association, Nekton is committed to protecting our oceans by supporting scientific exploration and promoting global awareness. Given the nature of Nekton’t work, there was no doubt a Diver 300M would be the most appropriate watch to represent this partnership. The 42mm case is made of stainless-steel with a solid case back, which has been embossed with the Nekton submarine medallion. The screw-on portion of the case back is designed with the patented OMEGA “NAIAD LOCK” lock, which ensures all the technical information and other engravings always synch into their exact place.
Mounted to the case is a unidirectional grade 5 titanium bezel, which features a laser ablated 60-minute scale. It comes equipped with a setting-crown embossed with the Omega logo.
There is also a helium escape valve at the 10 o’clock position, which assists the water-resistance on this watch being able to reach up to 300 meters (984 feet). All topped by a doomed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment on both sides.
Time is exhibited on a matte black laser-ablated ceramic dial, which has been laser engraved with wave patterns and features: white round dotted hour index markers, single rectangle markers for the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions and a double rectangle marker for the 12 o’clock spot. Circling alongside the inner flange of the dial are portions of white printed railroad-type minute index markers, divided by single markers for every 5-minute increment.
The central skeleton hands have been kept in steel to match the slight monochromatic theme. These central hands and index markers have all been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
