Omega Seamaster Diver 300M America’s Cup Chronograph
Omega has renewed their role as the official timekeeper of the America’s Cup, in anticipation of the 36th edition planned for Auckland, New Zealand, during the 6th to the 21st of March 2 021. This new “Omega Seamaster Diver 300M America’s Cup Chronograph” has been crafted with several new features that will clearly get the fans of this legendary race extra excited.
The 44mm case is made of stainless-steel with several enhancing features that will be very appealing to the fans of the sport. Mounted to the case is a uni-directional bezel with a blue ceramic insert that has a scale in white enamel. It comes equipped with rubber covered pushers colored in red and blue, which operate the chronograph functions. The rubber provides a better grip in wet conditions, while also referencing the America’s Cup traditional colors.Alternately the other side of the case we find the standard helium-escape valve lock But, the true novelty was Omega adding a “Chrono Look” device, which is a sliding button at 8 o’clock that can secure the chronograph functions if need be, thus avoiding accidental measures during competitions. On the flip-side we encounter a sapphire exhibition case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Engraved to the rim is the inscription: “36th AMERICA’S CUP” and “AUCKLAND 2021”. The front is equally topped by a sapphire crystal and water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 300 meters (984 feet).Time is exhibited on a blue ceramic dial which has been laser engraved with wave patterns featuring white round dotted hour index markers, single rectangle markers for the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions and a double rectangle marker for the 12 o’clock spot. Circling alongside the inner flange of the dial is a ring white printed seconds/minutes markings. There are two sub-dials with functions tailored for the America’s Cup. A sub-counter at 3 o’clock that includes both minutes and hours, plus a regatta countdown indicator ring in anodized aluminium. A unique design by Omega here replaced the hand for an internal hour disc. While aligned at 9 o’clock is a standard sub-seconds dial. The steel central skeleton hands, parts of the sub-dials and the index markers have all been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. A date aperture can be seen at the 6 o’clock position. Also keeping with the theme this watch comes with a central seconds chronograph made of red anodized aluminium that features an America’s Cup logo, as a counterweight.
