Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150 Master Chronometer GMT Worldtimer

One of Omega’s more complicated offerings is back in full gold, we’re referring to the “Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M Worldtimer”. This is not a new model per say, although it was originally released two years ago, which makes it still quite fresh. But, the novelty here is the use of the brands patent Sedna™ gold and a slightly re-envisioned map design.

The 43mm case is made of 18k Sedna™ gold (a proprietary rose gold alloy of Omega that blends: gold, palladium and copper) with a polished finish. While on the flip-side we encounter a transparent case back that features a matching Sedna gold rotor.

It also comes equipped with small wide lugs that provide a secure fit to the wrist and a screw-down setting-crown. Water-resistance on this timepiece can reach up to 150 meters (500 feet).

Time is exhibited on an opaline silvery dial that includes vertical teak striped and a circle of global destinations printed in red (GMT), blue (+1h in summer) and Sedna™ gold color (for places without daylight savings). At the center of the dial Omega has placed a 24-hour glass ring to distinguish between: daytime (with an opaline silvery color) and night (with dark blue).

The aforementioned redesigned map has been created on a grade 5 titanium plate, which was laser-ablated to create the blue ocean, leaving a relief of the continents with a texture-y look. The overall contrasting colors of the Earth’s surface were obtained naturally by the laser’s chemical reaction to the alloys.

As a world-timer watch it’s been equipped with a fixed cities disc and a 24-hour home-time wheel. To indicate seasonal time changes, the cities on the world disc have been color-coded: black symbolizes cities enjoying summer-time (+1h in summer); while gold is the color for places without daylight savings; and cities in red (London) are the GMT reference.

A date white date aperture can be seen at the 6 o’clock position. The central hand and hour index markers are also made of matching 18k Sedna™ gold and have all been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
