Officine Panerai Luminor BiTempo New York Edition

Although a boutique for Panerai already existed in New York, earlier this year they unveiled their new flagship boutique right in the heart of New York City, on Madison Avenue. The new location is known as Casa Panerai and represents a significant upgrade compared to the brand's previous spot. To further honor this occasion Panerai introduced the new “Luminor BiTempo New York Edition”, in a limited production of only 212 pieces, as a homage to New York City’s iconic area code. The 44 mm case is made of titanium with a gray DLC treatment, also known as “diamond-like carbon coating”. Applying this specific treatment technique on titanium material can substantially improve its robustness, while also allowing for more unique colorizations. Mounted to the case is a bezel matching the main case alloy and its finishing touches.On the flipside is a solid screw-on caseback made of the same gray DLC-coated titanium. It appears with its full center portion with a detailed etching of the Brooklyn Bridge.It comes equipped with the iconic extra reinforced Panerai crown guard featuring a detachable security lever, which has engraved “New York” directly on the lever, for this limited edition. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal. Water-resistance can reach up to 300 meters (984 feet).Time is exhibited on a matte gray dial with long white hour index markers and the Arabic numerals: 6, 9, and 12. All these elements appear as cut-aways on Panerai’s iconic “sandwich” layered dial. Except for the upper-half “LUMINOR PANERAI” and lower-half “BiTempo" inscriptions, which have been printed directly on the dial.A small-seconds counter appears near the 9 o’clock position, which is still present. Previous models for the “BiTempo” collection have excluded the numeral for the sub-dial, but they actually kept both present for this NYC inspired watch.The central darkened sword-shaped hands, the Arabic numerals, the hour indices markers, GMT arrow-tip, and sub-seconds hand have all been fitted with a white Super-LumiNova that actually glows green. There is also a date aperture at 3 o'clock position.

The “Officine Panerai Luminor BiTempo Titanium DLC New York” (Ref#: PAM01467) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber P.9010/GMT with 31 jewels, 200 components and 28,800 vph. Power reserve can last up to 72 hours (3 days), when fully wound.Mounted on the watch is a gray fabric strap with tone-on-tone stitching, while secured to the wrist by a dark gray DLC trapezoidal pin buckle. The strap is made from recycled PET that consists of 68% reclaimed materials from post-consumer waste.
