Longines Spirit iN 37mm
Back in 2020, was when the “Longines Spirit” collection was first released and embraced by the public, going on to become one of the brand’s most popular offerings. In just two years since that initial run, Longines has followed-up with new sizes, materials, and complications in order to further widen its appeal. Now for 2022 the latest update is a series of smaller compact unisex timepieces with three dial options. The 37mm case is made of stainless-steel with a mix of brushed surfaces and accents with a polished finish. Previously these models could only be had in 40mm or 42mm options, which make this the most compact offering. But, despite the case reduction it still has a rather broad case side measuring in at 11.70mm.On the flip-side is a solid caseback secured by six exposed screws, and features an engraved of the brand’s logo of a winged hourglass, placed before a globe silhouette.Mounted to the case is a mirror polished steel bezel, which offers a nice contrast to the overall radial brushed finish on the main case. It also comes equipped with the Spirit models standard long tapered lugs and an oversized knurled screw-in crown embossed with the Longines logo. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal with several layers of anti-reflective coating on both sides. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on either a sun-ray blue, champagne, or matte black dial with applied Arabic numerals with smaller diamond index markers beside them. Circling around the flange is a 60-minute scale with seconds/minutes markings and numerals for every 5-minute increment. The upper-half of the dial features the Longines winged hourglass logo, while the lower-half features five applied stars in a row and the “CHRONOMETER” inscription. The central sword-shaped steel hand and Arabic numerals have all been fitted with a luminescent filling, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date window at the 6 o’clock position.
