Longines Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition
Last year, Longines reintroduced the Pilot Majetek, a historic pilot watch known as “Majetek Vojenske Spravy” or simply, the Pilot Majetek. Building upon the success of the modern reinterpretation, Longines now unveils a new limited edition, the Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition. This version features a more technical and monochromatic look, crafted from lightweight titanium and honoring the original 1935 model supplied to the Czechoslovakian Air Force.The 43mm case with a thickness of 13.30mm is made of Grade 5 titanium with a brushed finish and polished accents. This large and commanding presence on the wrist is offset by the lightweight nature of titanium, which is approximately 30% lighter than steel. The cushion-shaped case enhances the robust and technical appearance, giving it a bold and distinctive look.
On the flipside is a solid titanium back that is secured by four screws, providing a robust enclosure. This solid caseback contributes to the watch’s overall durability and features an engraved “1935” commemorative plaque, housing the patented gear mechanism for the bezel coupled with the triangular marker. The use of a solid back also ensures the protection of the complex inner workings of the movement, which is essential for a pilot’s watch designed to withstand demanding conditions.
It comes equipped with a bidirectional rotating fluted bezel that features a starting time indicator. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, it ensures clear visibility of the dial under various lighting conditions. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
Time is exhibited on a matte black grained dial, designed with raised indexes and large Arabic numerals to echo the original Longines Czech Pilot watch from the 1920s, used by the Czechoslovakian Air Force in the 1930s.
The dial maintains a clean and functional display, incorporating grey hands that enhance its vintage aesthetic. The small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock is a nod to the historic design, providing a balanced layout.
The overall design pays tribute to the heritage of the Pilot Majetek, ensuring the modern watch retains the legibility and charm of its military predecessor.
Longines Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition
The “Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition” (Ref#: L2.838.1.53.2) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber L893.6 with 26 jewels and 25,200 Vph. It comes equipped with a silicon balance spring, offering enhanced resistance to magnetism and ensuring reliable performance. Power reserve can last up to 72 hours, when fully wound.
