Longines Heritage Classic “Tuxedo”
Longines keeps ushering in stunning models for their “Heritage Collection”. On this occasion they’re all dressed up for a special night on the town, worthy of suiting up in a “Tuxedo”. This two-tone combination white & black sector dial is inspired by 1940’s esthetics, and despite their vintage origins are a welcomed and refreshing look. Follow us towards the red carpet to greet this new pair of “Longines Heritage Classic” watches.
First up lets take a look at the time-only model. The round 38.5mm case is made of stainless-steel with a solid case that has been engraved with Longines iconic logo of an “hourglass with wings”.
It comes simply equipped with a setting-crown. All topped by sapphire crystal with several layers of ani-reflective coating on the underside. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 30 meters (98 feet).
Forget “pandas”, on this watch time is exhibited on an elegant “tuxedo” dial. Its a creamy off-white center, surrounded by a wide black ring with patina colored Arabic numerals, followed by a rail-road motif ring of small white minute markers with thicker indexes for each five-minute increment.
There is also a sub-seconds counter aligned at the 6 o’clock position. The central steel silvered polished sword-type hands have also been fitted with a patina hue, which along with the Arabic numerals emits a vintage-lume in the dark, for an enhanced legibility.
Longines Heritage Classic 'Tuxedo'
The "Longines Heritage Classic 'Tuxedo'"(Ref#: L2.330.4.93.0) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement L893 with 27 jewels and 25,200 vph. Power reserve on this watch can last up to 64 hours, when fully wound.
Next up the chronograph model comes in the slightly larger 40mm case made of steel, which features the same “winged hourglass” engraved case back.
Beside the setting-crown it comes equipped with two push-pieces that operate the chronograph functions.
Despite the “tuxedo” moniker also being attributed to the chronograph model, there is a lot more going here. All the extra elements give this dial a “busier” look, which loses a bit of the natural elegance found on the simpler time-only model.
The overall silver opaline dial has a wide black ring placed towards the middle portion with Arabic numerals that include a thin heavily detailed 60-minute scale outline. While the periphery of dial has another silver opaline layer with a vintage style tachymeter scale layout.
It also includes two sub-dials with blue hands: a sub-seconds at the 3 o’clock position and a 30-minute counter at the 9 o’clock position. This slight touch of color also extends to the central blue chronograph hand, accompanied by a pair of nice polished steel central hands.
