Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso Tribute Enamel “Shahnameh” Series

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso Tribute Enamel “Shahnameh” Series

Unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2025, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso Tribute Enamel “Shahnameh” series brought a poetic and visually arresting collection to the forefront of haute horlogerie. Comprising four limited-edition timepieces, each model honors a scene from the 16th-century Persian epic Shahnameh, seamlessly merging the Reverso’s polo-inspired roots with the intricate artistry of miniature enamel painting. Limited to just 10 pieces per reference, the collection stands as a vibrant homage to Persian cultural heritage and the Maison’s unparalleled expertise in decorative watchmaking.
Each watch in the Reverso Tribute Enamel “Shahnameh” series is housed in an elegant 18k white gold case, measuring 45.6mm in length by 27.4mm in width, with a slim thickness of 9.73mm. True to the iconic Reverso format, the case features sleek, Art Deco lines with a reversible mechanism, originally designed to protect the watch face during polo matches, that now serves as a canvas for art. The rectilinear profile enhances the symmetry of both dial and caseback, blending form and function in one continuous expression of design. The reverse side of each case showcases a unique miniature enamel painting inspired by the Shahnameh, specifically reproductions from the illustrated manuscript prepared for Shah Tahmasp in the 16th century. These artworks are created at Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Métiers Rares atelier using four traditional crafts: miniature enamel painting, grand feu enamel, paillonnage, and guillochage. Each caseback becomes a tiny museum-worthy display of Persian mythology rich in symbolism, historical reference, and fine detail.Polished sides and angled lugs accentuate the architectural nature of the case, while a seamless integration with the strap ensures wearability despite its artistic ambitions. The overall structure remains faithful to the Reverso’s legacy, while serving as a celebration of cross-cultural dialogue through craft. The watches are not water-resistant, as befits their role as objets d’art rather than sport instruments.

Siyavush Plays Polo before Afrasiyab (Ref#: Q39334S1)

This edition features a deep blue grand feu enamel dial set atop a radiant sunray guilloché base. Inspired by the Shahnameh’s depiction of the legendary polo match between Siyavush and King Afrasiyab, this reference is a direct nod to the sport that gave rise to the Reverso itself. The bold scene is meticulously painted on the reverse, while the dial’s rich enamel work, requiring 15 hours of guilloché and enameling, offers an abstract echo of the narrative’s vigor and nobility.

Faridun Tests His Sons (Ref#: Q39334S2)

A myth of wisdom and leadership, this model reflects King Faridun’s test of his sons through a symbolic transformation into a dragon. The dial is finished in translucent light blue grand feu enamel laid over a herringbone guilloché pattern, chosen to evoke the story’s elemental setting. The reverse features the vivid painted scene of the king in dragon form, evaluating the courage and temperament of his heirs.

Saam Comes to Mount Alburz (Ref#: Q39334S3)

Symbolizing redemption and paternal love, this reference depicts the poignant moment when Saam returns to reclaim his son, Zal, raised by the mythical Simurgh. The dial showcases a wave-like guilloché pattern beneath layers of translucent green enamel, conjuring the mountainous and mythological setting of the tale.On the caseback, Saam and the Simurgh are rendered with remarkable emotional intensity in miniature enamel.

Rustam Pursues Akvan (Ref#: Q39334S4)

Though less elaborated in the initial press materials, this edition captures a dynamic scene from one of the Shahnameh’s best-known heroes: Rustam’s dramatic pursuit of the demon Akvan. The enamel caseback captures movement and tension, while the dial design is expected to echo the narrative’s pace through bold lines and vivid tones. Like the others, it is a study in motion, myth, and enamel mastery.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Enamel “Shahnameh”

All four models of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Enamel “Shahnameh” (References above) are powered by the hand-wound mechanical movement, caliber 822 with 19 jewels, 108 parts and 21,600 vph. Power reserve can last up to 42 hours, when fully wound.
These watches are paired with a black alligator leather strap featuring a double-folding clasp in matching 18k white gold. The strap enhances the monochromatic elegance of the case while serving as a refined counterpoint to the vibrant enamel dials and painted casebacks. The Reverso’s ergonomic design, combined with the soft texture of the strap, ensures that these artistic timepieces wear as comfortably as they are captivating
Each of the four Reverso Tribute Enamel “Shahnameh” models is limited to just 10 numbered pieces worldwide, underscoring their rarity and reinforcing their status as collectible works of horological art. For more up to date information visit the official Jaeger-LeCoultre website here.
