Jaeger-LeCoultre revisits one of its most iconic canvases for artisanal expression with the new Reverso Tribute Enamel 'Xu Beihong' series. Comprising three ultra-limited editions, each piece pays homage to the celebrated Chinese painter Xu Beihong and his mastery in depicting horses. Combining miniature enamel painting, hand-turned guilloché, and grand feu enamelling, this exceptional trio continues the Maison’s tradition of showcasing rare artistic crafts while honouring the upcoming Year of the Horse in 2026. Only 10 pieces of each reference will be produced.

The signature Art Deco case of the Reverso returns in polished 18k white gold, measuring 45.6mm by 27.4mm with a thickness of 9.73mm. Rectangular, sleek, and timeless, it maintains the classic proportions and elegant lines of the Tribute Enamel series. The smooth, mirror-like surfaces frame the richly coloured enamel dials, contrasting beautifully with the intricate guillochage patterns beneath.As always with the Reverso, the reverse side of the swivelling case transforms into a miniature art gallery. Here, each model features a unique hand-painted enamel reproduction of one of Xu Beihong's celebrated horse paintings: 'The Running Horse', 'Two Horses', or 'The Standing Horse'. Framed in white gold, the detailed works are rendered with remarkable precision across a mere 2cm² surface area using traditional grand feu enamel techniques, requiring nearly 80 hours of meticulous work per piece.It comes equipped with a discreet white gold crown for manual winding and time-setting. The front crystal is a scratch-resistant sapphire pane, offering a clear view of the dial's layered enamel and guilloché textures. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet).
The dials of the Xu Beihong series are a harmonious interplay of texture, colour, and craftsmanship. Each dial begins with a unique guilloché motif in sunburst, barleycorn, or herringbone, which is painstakingly engraved by hand using century-old rose engine lathes.

Over these engraved surfaces, multiple layers of translucent grand feu enamel are fired to develop rich, nuanced tones. The 'Running Horse' features a deep pine green sunburst dial; 'Two Horses' reveals a misty grey-blue barleycorn motif; and 'Standing Horse' glows with an orange-bronze herringbone pattern. The result is a trio of visually immersive, tactile dials, free of numerals, with only faceted white gold dauphine hands marking the hours and minutes.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute 'Xu Beihong' (References below) is powered by the in-house hand-wound mechanical movement, caliber 822 with 19 jewels, 108 components, and 21,600 vph. It comes equipped with a small seconds mechanism and fine finishing. Power reserve can last up to 42 hours, when fully wound.
Each watch is mounted on a hand-stitched black alligator leather strap with a matching white gold folding clasp. The alligator strap provides a refined yet understated frame to the artistic dial and caseback. Elegant and balanced, the Reverso wears comfortably and modestly on the wrist thanks to its curved lugs and slender profile, making it suitable for formal occasions or as a connoisseur's daily companion.
