Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Enamel Tiger
We’re about to kick off the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac, so several watch brands have been rolling out tiger-themed timepieces. One of the most discreet, yet very elegant options comes in the form of the new “Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Enamel Tiger”. This special made to order only edition has been created to coincide with Chinese New Year and the opening of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s new flagship boutique in Shanghai.
The rectangular 27.4mm case is made of 18k pink gold with a solid case back and the standard vertical length of 45.5mm. 
What makes this watch a unique classic comes in the form of its iconic reversible portion that can always be flipped to reveal something special.
In this edition we encounter a tiger leaping out of the clouds, which has been engraved directly into the pink gold case. 
The background was formed by a black opaque Grand Feu enamel, while the polished surface of the tiger’s fur contrasts with the rhodium-brushed texture of its stripes and almost creates an illusion of movement.
To enhance the depth of this engraving, the artisans at JLC used a technique called modeled engraving, which consists of using different sized chisels to sculpt the metal step by step. This endeavor is further complicated because the engraver needs to chisel a surface that already has a coat of Grand Feu enamel, instead of a bare metal layer.
Such a task requires extreme accuracy and attention to detail, in order to avoid any type of damage and maintain an unblemished enamel. It requires an engraver approximately 55 hours of labor to create one of these exquisite timepieces. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 30 meters (98 feet).
Meanwhile the time is exhibited on a black Grand Feu enamel dial with 18k pink gold applied hour index markers, followed by smaller metallic print gold toned railroad-motif minute index markers circumventing all of its perimeter. 
All these index markers have been meticulously applied by hand. It also comes equipped with central 18k pink gold dauphine style hands. Overall what we encounter here is the very simple and classic default time-only Reverso design.

The “Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Enamel Tiger” (Ref#: Q39324K1) is powered by the in-house hand-wound mechanical movement, caliber 822A/2 with 19 jewels, 108 parts and 21,600 vph. Power reserve on this watch can last up to 45 hours, when fully wound.
