Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon

Five years ago Jaeger-LeCoultre released their first Reverso with a duoface that also included a tourbillon piercing through either side. It was a limited edition crafted out of a premium platinum alloy. Now the same concept returns with a different precious metal, while dialwise we get two elegant and distinctly designed layouts. The iconic rectangular case with a diameter of 27.4mm is made of 18k pink gold with an overall polished finish. Crafted as always with the name-inspiring, reversible portion capable of smoothly swiveling out to allow the front or the back to be visible. On this model the flip-side reveals a continuation of its main complication, since the tourbillon can be seen from both sides, Plus thanks to their patented design the user's main display can be accessed with a simple swivel flip. This Reverso doesn’t measure in with a slimness of only 8.5mm (as other have), but its thickness of 9.15mm is very compact given its characteristics. If length is considered from lug-to-lug, then height reaches 45.5mm.It comes equipped with a setting crown embossed with the JLC logo. All topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 30 meters (96 feet).Time is exhibited on either a silver or black dial both with a sunray-brushed finish, but other than that they differ considerably. The main silver side for home-time has the more classic 1930's inspired look with rose gold applied hour indices, followed by smaller printed railroad-motif minute index markers that adhere and reinforce its rectangular shape. It is a very sleek and simple dial, except for the large tourbillon on the lower-half aligned at 6 o’clock. The absence of an upper bridge allows for an unobstructed view of the flying tourbillon, which is also visible on the reverse side. In order to craft a tourbillon with 62 components and such a light weigh of only 0.455 g, required a precise hand assembly by the artisans at their Grandes Complications workshop,On the reverse we flip-over to reveal the second time zone on a smaller off-center black dial with gold applied hour indices, with a circular white printed minute track. There are open-worked portions revealing views into several moving parts, but the majority of the dial features gold bridges decorated with guilloché at the Atelier des Métiers Rares ®. Other fine details include the mirror-polished disc placed over the tourbillon section, and the discreet night and day indicators (on the top portion near the black dial) that feature a starry night sky decoration. A statement by JCL described this level of detail on a dial as a “rarely seen degree of sophistication”. Both sides of this Reverso Tribute come equipped with pink gold dauphine style central hands. All these index markers and the sub-seconds have been meticulously applied by hand.
