Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph

Until now we’d have to go back to 1996 to encounter a “Reverso Chronograph”, but Jaeger-LeCoultre has just released a new “Reverso Tribute Chronograph”. Time appears on a double sided display that can either appear sleek and simple, or exposed and complicated. Plus if you swivel it over to the open-worked side you’ll be staring at the brand new caliber 860, created specifically for this occasion.  The 29.9mm rectangular case is available in either stainless-steel or 18k pink gold with its iconic reversible portion capable of smoothly swiveling out to allow the front or the back to be visible. On this model the flip-side reveals its complications in a different configuration (as we further detail below), which can become the user's main display with a simple swivel flip, thanks to its patented design. Unlike slimmer Reverso’s that tend to measure in at only 8.5mm, this version has a slightly thicker 11.4mm casing, while the lug-to-lug length continues to measure in at 49.4mm.  It comes equipped with a setting crown embossed with the JLC logo, plus two rectangular pushers to operate the chronograph functions. All topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 30 meters (96 feet).Time is exhibited on either a black or blue dial both with a sunray-brushed finish. It features applied alloy matching hour index markers, followed by smaller printed railroad-motif minute index markers that adhere and reinforce its rectangular shape. This gleaming dial tone found on the steel version has been described as gray by some, although JLC has is designated as blue on their specification details. Either way this interesting hue was achieved by using an innovative ADL (atomic layer deposit) process, which involved depositing ultra-thin layers of titanium oxide. On the reverse we flip-over to reveal a meticulously crafted open-worked dial that showcases every detail of the new Manufacture Calibre 860 and the ingenious mechanics of the retrograde chronograph, which feature hour markers and a minute track that seem to float above the movement. The bridges on it are adorned with a Côtes de Genève finish, while the chronograph seconds are highlighted by a contrasting black and white ring, to enhance legibility. While at the bottom of the dial is a retrograde 30-minute counter with a blued steel hand. Both sides of this Reverso Tribute come equipped with steel or pink gold dauphine style central hands. All these index markers and the sub-seconds have been meticulously applied by hand.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph

The “Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph” (References Below) is powered by the brand new in-house hand-wound mechanical movement, caliber 860 with 38 jewels, 300 parts, and 28,800 vph. Power reserve can last up to 52 hours, when fully wound.Mounted on the watch is a calfskin leather strap with tone-on-tone stitchings, secured by classic pin buckle (steel version) or a deployant buckle (pink gold version).  These straps were designed by Casa Fagliano, as the joint venture with these Argentinian bootmakers endures. Both models also come with an additional bi-material canvas and calfskin strap. Plus switching between them is a simple task thanks to a quick-change attachment system.
