Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date Boutique Edition
The main descendant for this watch first appeared back in 1968 as the “Memovox Polaris”, but since JLC reintroduced this dive model in 2018 with a modern makeover it has become a crowd favorite. We’ve seen several iterations in recent years: automatic, chronograph, world timer, and even a faithful reproduction of the original Memovox. This latest release is the date version, which appears with a new lacquered green dial. The 42mm case is made of stainless-steel with a hand-brushed surface and polished accents. Mountd to the case is a mirror polished steel bezel, plus this edition has preserved the short lugs that have come to characterize this specific models aesthetics. On the flip-side is a screwed-on caseback with exposed screws and a sapphire exhibition center that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It comes equipped with two crowns, one for setting and winding the movement, while the other is used for the inner rotating bezel. All topped by a box-shaped sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 200 meters (656 feet). Time is exhibited on a green lacquered dial in a combination of sun-ray, grained and opaline finishes, with the Arabic numerals: 6, 9, 12 and polished rhodium-plated hour index markers. While circling around the periphery of the dial is a rotating inner bezel with a 60-minute scale. The central semi-skeletonised steel hands, hour index markers and Arabic numerals have all been fitted with a neon green lume, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position, which now has been crafted with rounded edges for a smoother look.
