Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph
Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the Polaris collection back in 2018 by drawing inspiration from the iconic 1968 Memovox Polaris watch. This collection initially included a chronograph model and has now been expanded with two new Polaris Chronograph versions. These new variations feature visually captivating dials that proudly demonstrate the craftsmanship of La Grande Maison. They also include a new in-house movement and a first time ever light gray dial. The 42mm case is made of stainless-steel with a vertically brushed surface and polished accents. Mounted to the case is a mirror polished steel bezel, plus this edition has preserved the short lugs that have come to characterize this specific model's aesthetics. On the flip-side is a screwed-on caseback with a sapphire exhibition center that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It comes equipped with two rectangular steel pushers that operate the chronograph functions. The large crown is inspired by the 1968 diver edition. A fitting component further appreciated by the water-resistance reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet). Time is exhibited on either a dark blue or light gray dial with the Arabic numerals: 6 and 12, accompanied by rhodium-plated hour index markers. This is a multi-layer dial in which both the central disc and hours ring appear in a lacquered hue with a gradient effect from light to dark. A slightly contrasting design that adds much depth to the overall appearance. There are two matte black sub-dials with a grainy interior: a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock and a small-seconds at the 9 o’clock spot. Meanwhile in the periphery of the dial is a black ring with a sloped tachymeter scale in white print, except for the highlighted “60” numeral in red, just like the "30" and “60” numerals in the sub-dials.The central skeletonised steel hour hand, hour index markers and Arabic numerals have all been fitted with a blue lume, for an enhanced legibility. An orange tip was placed on the thin central chronograph hand, as a highlight that also adds an extra dash of color to its palette.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph
The “Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph” (References below) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 761 with 35 jewels and 28,800 vph. This is a new movement built off the architecture of their caliber 751, which integrated a vertical clutch column-wheel that swapped out the 12-hour counter for a running-seconds. Power reserve can last up to 65 hours, when fully wound. The gray Polaris comes mounted on a textile or rubber strap, while the blue Polaris ships with a stainless-steel bracelet and rubber strap. They both also feature an interchangeability system that allows for quicker strap and bracelet swaps. For more up to date information visit the official Jaeger-LeCoultre website here.
