Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Moon
The saying “complicated times call for complicated measures” might have come about at the Jaeger-LeCoultre meeting when this new “Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Moon” was initially proposed. A timepiece equipped with a tourbillon and a moon-phase, among other embellishments. Once again JLC has been able to elegantly combine technical innovation with classical aesthetics, creating a remarkable dress watch that requires a closer look. The 41.5mm case is made of an 18k “Le Grand rose gold” that refers to a proprietary alloy Jaeger-LeCoultre debuted earlier in 2020, for the new Master Control model line. It has been crafted to offer a greater resistance to fading than standard rose gold, due to elements like chloride in water and the air; thus assuring a longer longevity to its vibrant color. On the flip-side we encounter a sapphire exhibition case back, which allows to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It comes equipped with a riveted setting-crown engraved with the JLC logo, while nearby this same case band has the date corrector. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 50 meters (164 feet).Time is exhibited on an eggshell beige dial with gold appliqué arrow-shaped hour markers, followed by smaller gold dotted minute markings. On the periphery is a calendar ring with the day of the month counted-down via the “jumping-date” complication. There are two sub-dials: on the upper-half are the moon-phases of the Northern Hemisphere with a gold disc, placed against the backdrop of a starlit blue sky. While circling around is a ring with the Southern Hemisphere moon phases on the left and the age of the current moon on the right, both indicated by a double-ended hand.On the lower-half is the tourbillon with a newly designed rose gold polished bridge, encased within a sub-seconds counter that gets ticked away by a blue propeller. It also comes equipped with rose gold central Dauphine hands and a thin elongated red-tipped hand to indicate the current date. More dashes of red appear sprinkled about in the form of numerals to add a discreet touch of color, while also increasing the dials overall legibility.
