Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Power Reserve

The Master Ultra Thin watch collection embodies Jaeger-LeCoultre's fundamental ethos, seamlessly blending technical prowess with enduring elegance. It reinvents conventional watch complications with its streamlined and unembellished designs, presenting a fresh perspective on traditional craftsmanship. The newest version of the Master Ultra Thin Power Reserve, denoted by the reference Q137258J, was recently unveiled by Jaeger-LeCoultre. This updated rendition stands out with its gradient midnight blue sunray dial, showcasing a sophisticated model that incorporates subtle modernizations in both case and dial design. Additionally, it features the advanced Manufacture Calibre 938, marking a noteworthy enhancement. The 39mm case is made of 18k rose gold with an overall polished finish. Mounted by a thin bezel that fully integrates to create a compact case with a thickness of 8.95mm. Its contoured lugs offer a classic design that continue exuding a character that can easily transition between social and more informal outing almost seamlessly. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition case back that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features several purple jewels, golden gears, blued screws, and a gold oscillating weight, designed in the form of the “JL” logo.

It comes equipped with a riveted setting-crown engraved with the JLC logo, while nearby this same case band has the date corrector. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (164 feet).
Time is exhibited on a sunray-finished deep blue dial with gold appliqué dagger-shaped hour markers, followed by smaller gold dotted minute markings. The blue hue has a gradient effect that leads the slightly smoky center towards a darker midnight blue periphery along the minute track.

Located at 10 o'clock, the primary power reserve indicator showcases a scale based on fractions rather than specific hours, a departure from previous models. This modification is a result of the significantly enhanced power reserve brought by caliber 938, now extending it from 43 to 70 hours. Displaying this extended range with only five markers posed a challenge for a more visually satisfying presentation. Two more sub-dials appear in an offset arrangement: a date indicator aligned with the 2 o’clock spot, while the majority of the dial’s lower-half features a small seconds with a grained interior that includes the “AUTOMATIQUE” inscription. The central Dauphine hands in rose gold add an additional layer of sophistication and timeless design, further complementing the surrounding hour markers against the backdrop of this midnight blue dial.
