Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronograph Calendar
Black, gold and red, were the colors chosen by Jaeger-LeCoultre for their new “Master Control Chronograph Calendar” to achieve what they describe as a “vintage yet contemporary” style. This color scheme is meant to also recall a mid 20th century palette. Back in 2020 marked the first unveiling of this variation, which now appears in this new look, while preserving all its complications. The round 40mm x 12.05mm case is made out of 18k pink gold with a mixture of polished surfaces and brushed casebands. Mounted to the case is a thin gold bezel with a mirror-like polished finish. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition case back that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Its decorated with a Côtes de Genève finish and features a pink gold rotor designed in the form of the brands double “J” logo.It comes equipped with two rectangular-shaped pushers to operate the chronograph functions (at 2 and 4 o’clock), followed by very small push pieces that can be used to set the calendar (month at 2:30, date at 3:30, month at 8:00, and day at 10:00). While in the middle of those complication regulators is the standard setting-crown, decorated with a “JL” embossed logo. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-glare treatment. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (164 feet).Time is exhibited on a black dial with an elegant sunray-brushed finish. It is adorned by rose gold applied hour indices, followed by a ring of gilt printed minutes/seconds markings. Finally circling around the flange is a pulsometric scale with red font.On the upper-half of the dial, directly underneath the Jaeger-LeCoultre logo we encounter a double-window for the weekday and current month also with red font. There are three sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a sub-seconds at 9 o’clock, and a calendar with a blue sky star-lit decorated moonphase in its midst. Each dial has also been given a red numeral for an added touch of color and a quicker glance read. The Dauphine-shaped central hands and dots aligned with the gold-applied hour index markers have all been given a luminescent filling, for an enhanced legibility.
