IWC Portofino Chronograph 39 with Steel Bracelet
IWC has expanded its Portofino collection with the introduction of the Portofino Chronograph 39 on a steel bracelet, marking the first time this elegant model has been offered with a metal bracelet. Known for its timeless design and understated elegance, the Portofino Chronograph 39 now takes on a fresh, more robust aesthetic with the addition of the 5-link steel bracelet. This new release seamlessly blends the collection’s classic dress watch appeal with a touch of modernity, offering a versatile option for those who appreciate both style and functionality. The stainless-steel case measures 39mm in diameter and has a thickness of 13mm. It features a mix of polished and brushed finishes, giving it a refined yet contemporary appearance. The polished bezel adds a touch of elegance, while the gently curved lugs ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist. On the flipside is an exhibition sapphire caseback that provides a clear view of the IWC caliber 69355. It features a nicely decorated movement with a semi-hollowed oscillating weight. The caseback is further secured by some exposed screws, ensuring a tight seal.It comes equipped with a screw-down crown and two piston-style pushers to operate the chronograph functions. All topped by a convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (164 feet).Time is exhibited on a pristine white, silver-plated dial, adorned with applied indices and slim, elongated hands that enhance the watch’s refined aesthetic. Circling around the internal flange is also a black printed 60-minute track. It features a two-register chronograph display with snailed sub-dials: a sub-seconds at 6 o’clock and a 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock. A partial part of Roman numerals can be seen cut-off by these counters at the 6 and 12 o’clock spots. Adding to the dial’s understated sophistication, the hands and markers are crafted in a matching steel tone, offering a subtle contrast against the white background. The minimalistic design ensures that the dial remains easy to read, even at a glance, while maintaining the dressy vibe that the Portofino collection is known for.
