IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX with Silver Dial

A modern evolution of the “IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX” was launched last year in 2022. At first glance it seemed almost identical to previous releases, but on further inspection the dial’s layout had been slightly tweaked. Plus the case had undergone some minor modifications, and most importantly they replaced the ETA/Sellita movement with a ValFleurier production. Now after black, blue, and green dial's, this collection has expanded into a silver-plated option. The 40mm case is made of stainless-steel with radial brushed surfaces that contrast with the vertically brushed casebands, while mounted to the case a polished bezel. All these opposing parts form a robust 10.8mm thick watch with corrosion resistant steel just like its predecessors. On the flip-side is a steel screw-on caseback engraved by the 1930’s Junkers Ju 52, which is the German tri-motor transport aircraft whose cockpit instruments inspired the IWC designers that originally created the Mark 11 timepiece. This case features a soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields. It also comes equipped with a large screw-in crown embossed with the IWC logo, plus a machined circumference to provide firm grip for quick-sets.All topped by a convex sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating on both sides. This crystal has also been secured against displacement by a drop in air pressure. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet).Time is exhibited on a silver-plated, white dial with black printed Arabic numerals and the iconic IWC “triangle” with a dot on each side, located at the 12 o’clock position. While circling around the flange is a black printed minute track. As with the previous models it's been updated to include the ValFleurier movement and a redesigned, slimmer case. This new option also has a date window with a white background, which blends in much more conspicuously on this silver-plated dial versus the black, blue, or green versions. Plus the index markers and numerals are more spaced out.The central black plated propeller-style hands, Arabic numerals and minute index markers have all undergone a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
