IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun Mojave Desert

Over the past few years, IWC Schaffhausen has proceeded to release more watches under the name "Colours of TOP GUN”, inspired by nature and placed among their famous Pilot's Watch collection. This has led to various interesting models, each with their own distinct traits, but in common across all these versions has been the use of ceramic materials. IWC has mastered the art of producing vibrant colors with ceramic, which includes a sandy beige color they’ve designated as “Mojave Desert”. The newest release is an “IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun Mojave Desert” that continues to propagate these earth-toned aesthetics.The 41.9mm case is made of beige colored ceramic with a height of 15.5mm. It is the same classic design we’ve come to expect from IWC and with that desert inspired hue that has quickly become a fan favorite. On the flip-side is a solid screw-on titanium case back, which features an engraving of the “TOP GUN” logo with the inscriptions: “UNITED STATES NAVY” and “FIGHTER WEAPONS SCHOOL”.It comes equipped with two inverted push-pieces to operate the chronograph and stop-watch features; and a setting-crown in-between them, all made of steel. Plus a soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields. All topped by a convex sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating on both sides. The glass has been secured against displacement by drop in air pressure. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet). Time is exhibited on a dark brown dial with beige Arabic numerals, a ring of index markers and the iconic IWC triangle between two dots at the 12 o’clock position. All these indicators have been colored in a beige hue that syncs up seamlessly with the case’s ceramic tone.There are three snailed sub-dials: a small hacking seconds at the 6 o’clock position; a 12-hour counter at the 9 o’clock position and a 30-minute counter at the 12 o’clock position. The chronograph's split-seconds hand appears in beige with a very thin and straight design. The brown and beige central propeller-style hands, hour index markers, and sub-dial hands have all undergone a Superluminova coating, for an enhanced legibility. It also includes a two-window, day-date aperture, aligned with the 3 o’clock position.

The “IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun Mojave Desert” (Ref#: IW389402) is powered by the self-winding in-house mechanical movement, caliber 69380 with 33 jewels, 231 components and 28,800 vph. This is a variation of the chronograph family with a display for both the day, as well as the date.
