IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph “Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team” Miami Pink Edition

This upcoming Sunday, May 7th will be the second Miami Grand Prix and to celebrate the occasion IWC is releasing a new version of their Pilot’s Watch Chronograph “Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team” with a Miami pink rubber strap. It's been over a decade since the partnership between IWC Schaffhausen and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team began and it's still going strong. To further mark the occasion the color pink will be appearing on the gloves and shoes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russel, as they compete during this weekends race.The 41mm case is made of grade 5 titanium with a sandblasted finish and polished accents. This is the second Pilot’s chronograph crafted out of this particular alloy, after the first version of this F1 inspired watch. The use of titanium was very intentional since it is widely used in automotive engineering, due to its high resistance to corrosion.On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. Circling around the circumference is the inscription: “PILOT’S WATCH CHRONOGRAPH MERCEDES-AMG PETRONAS MOTORSPORTS”, which has been applied directly to the sapphire crystal in the same Petronas green hue.It comes equipped with two inverted push-pieces to operate the chronograph and stop-watch features; with a setting-crown in-between them. Plus a soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields.All topped by a convex sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating on both sides. The glass has been secured against displacement by drop in air pressure. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet). Time is exhibited on a matte black dial with Arabic numerals, a ring of index markers and the iconic IWC triangle between two dots at the 12 o’clock position, which are all colored in Petronas green.There are three snailed sub-dials: a small hacking seconds at 6 o’clock; a 12-hour counter at the 9 o’clock and a 30-minute counter at the 12 o’clock position.It also includes a two-window day/date aperture aligned with the 3 o’clock position, placed between the IWC Schaffhausen logo inscriptions. The central hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with a green luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.

The IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph “Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team” Miami Pink Edition (Ref#: IW388114) is powered by the self-winding in-house mechanical movement, caliber 69385 with 33 jewels, 231 components and 28,800 vph. This is a variation of the chronograph family with displays for both the day as well as the date. Power reserve can last up to 46 hours, when fully wound.This watch comes with two straps: a Miami pink rubber strap, plus an additional Petronas green rubber strap. Both are secured by a sandblasted titanium pin buckle and come equipped with the EasX-CHANGE system, which allows swift swaps between straps.This is a special non-limited edition that will be available exclusively online and at the Miami boutique for a limited time.
