The IWC Ingenieur Automatic 42 Dark Olive Green Ceramic expands the modern Ingenieur collection with a more expressive take on the brand’s engineering-focused sports watch. Following the black ceramic edition introduced last year, this new version introduces color without losing the technical identity that defines the series. The result feels refined, modern, and slightly warmer in character, while still remaining unmistakably Ingenieur.
The case measures 42mm in diameter and 11.5mm in thickness. It is crafted from dark olive green ceramic with a mix of satin-brushed, polished, and sandblasted finishes. The angular surfaces and integrated bracelet design preserve the Gérald Genta-inspired architecture introduced with the modern Ingenieur revival. The muted green tone gives the watch a more understated personality than brighter ceramic executions.
On the reverse, a sapphire caseback reveals the automatic movement inside. The ceramic case construction remains highly technical, with an internal titanium ring securing the calibre and supporting the bezel screws. The view through the caseback adds mechanical depth while maintaining the clean industrial feel of the watch.
The screw-down crown is crafted from 18k 5N gold, creating a subtle contrast against the ceramic surfaces. Armor Gold bezel screws reinforce the technical aesthetic while adding warmth to the overall design. A convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
The dial matches the dark olive green tone of the case and bracelet. Its stamped “Grid” pattern gives the surface texture and structure, reinforcing the Ingenieur’s technical character. Depending on the light, the dial shifts between matte and metallic tones, adding depth without becoming overly reflective.
Gold-plated applied markers and hands create strong contrast against the darker background.
The framed date window at 3 o’clock integrates cleanly into the layout, while the IWC logo at 12 and the historical lightning-bolt emblem at 6 add balance and symmetry to the display.
The layered textures of the dial work particularly well with the ceramic case. Light catches the raised grid pattern subtly, giving the surface more dimension. The gold accents soften the otherwise industrial appearance of the watch. Super-LumiNova is applied to the hands and markers, ensuring visibility in low-light conditions.

It comes equipped with IWC’s Pellaton winding system featuring ceramic components for enhanced durability and efficiency. Power reserve can last up to 60 hours, when fully wound.”
