IWC Schaffhausen welcomes the summer season with a vibrant new addition to its Ingenieur Automatic 35 collection. The latest reference introduces a fresh “Pool” dial, bringing an aquatic blue-green tone to Gérald Genta’s iconic integrated-bracelet design. While preserving the collection’s distinctive architecture and refined finishing, the new model offers a colorful interpretation of one of today’s most elegant luxury sports watches.
The IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35 “Pool” is housed in a stainless-steel case measuring 35mm in diameter with a slim profile of just 9.4mm. Faithful to the Gérald Genta-inspired design first introduced on the Ingenieur SL in 1976, the case features a harmonious mix of satin-brushed and polished finishes, while the signature bezel is secured by five functional screws that emphasize the watch’s technical character.
Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback displaying the automatic manufacture movement within. The transparent caseback allows the owner to appreciate the movement’s decorative finishing while maintaining the refined appearance expected from IWC’s modern Ingenieur collection.
The integrated crown blends neatly into the case profile, preserving the watch’s clean lines without interrupting the overall design. A sapphire crystal protects the dial and ensures excellent clarity while complementing the refined construction of the case. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
The defining feature of this latest Ingenieur is its new “Pool” dial, a vibrant blue-green shade that brings a fresh personality to the collection.
Depending on the lighting, the aquatic color shifts subtly across the surface, creating an energetic yet elegant appearance that perfectly suits the summer season.
Adding depth is IWC’s signature “Grid” pattern, composed of finely engraved squares and intersecting lines that catch the light from multiple angles. The textured surface reinforces the technical identity of the Ingenieur while giving the vivid dial additional visual richness.
Rhodium-plated hands and applied hour markers contrast sharply against the colorful background and are filled with Super-LumiNova to maintain excellent legibility in low-light conditions.
A discreet date display completes the clean, balanced layout without distracting from the geometric dial pattern.
IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35 ‘Pool’
The “IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35 ‘Pool’” (Ref#: IW324902) is powered by the self-winding manufacture caliber 47110, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz). Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement is decorated with Geneva stripes, circular graining, and a gold-plated oscillating weight. It displays the hours, minutes, central seconds, and date. Power reserve can last up to 42 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted on this watch is an integrated stainless-steel bracelet secured by a folding clasp. Attached through the center links, the bracelet follows the natural contour of the wrist while combining satin-brushed H-links with polished center links that echo the alternating finishes found throughout the case, delivering both exceptional comfort and visual refinement.
