IWC Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month

IWC Schaffhausen just made waves by announcing a thrilling partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures for their upcoming film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. In celebration, they're releasing two new watch models inspired by the iconic red and blue glowing watches prominently featured in the highly-anticipated sequel. These watches from IWC are bold, substantial in size, and loaded with features tailored for adventures. As part of this collaboration, they've crafted two sleek aquatic-inspired timepieces in all-black with eye-catching colorful accents. One of the standout creations from this partnership is the Aquaman-themed IWC Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Ceratanium. The large case comes in at a 49mm diameter case with a 19.5mm height made of black Ceratanium (which is essentially a titanium alloy with a matte black ceramic treatment) that combines the lightness and robust features of titanium with the properties of ceramic. On the flipside is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features several purple jewels, golden gears, and a blackened rotor to match the main case alloy by applying a nickel-plating process. It comes equipped with two push pieces for the chronograph functions, while nestled in between as a secured screw-in crown, knurled and embossed with the IWC logo. All topped by a convex sapphire glass with anti reflective coating on both sides. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet). Both dials on these watches are predominately black and form a cohesive look with matching alloy, but it can be had with tones of red or blue. These dashes of color appear in tell time with standard hour index markers, while the few numerals appear on the sloped inner bezel with 15-minute intervals. There are four sub-dials for this perpetual calendar, two of which are the large double-digit displays for the date disc at 9 o’clock and month disc at 3 o’clock that appear front in center with a honeycomb pattern that really characterized this dial overall style. The other counters are the small hacking at 6 o’clock (which includes a leap year indicator) and a combined hour and minute counters in a totalizer at 12 o’clock. The blackened central hands match each dial red or blue by filling in and also coloring the thin central arrow-tipped chronograph hand. These indicators as well as sub counters have all been fitted with a luminescent filling for an enhanced legibility.
