Glashütte PanoMaticCalendar
In recent years the Saxon brand has successfully continued to merge quality mechanics with unique color-schemes and lay-outs. Always here to remind us that horology isn’t all made in Switzerland. Their latest release is the “Glashütte PanoMaticCalendar” which marks the first time a Pano collection watch features an annual calendar. This concept also led to the brand crafting the new caliber 92-10 movement. This 42mm case is available in 5N red gold or platinum with a brushed and polished finish, for a contrasting effect. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition case back that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement.
It has been decorated with polished/blued screws, an off-centered rotor in rhodium plated (red gold) or black rhodium plated (platinum), and a 3/4 plate with Glashütte stripe finish, with a hand engraved duplex swan-neck fine adjustment. All topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on both sides. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 50 meters (164 feet).Time is exhibited on a silver opaline dial with red gold hour index markers, followed by applied minute indicators. The overall dial has a vinyl-type decorative pattern The “PanoMaticCalendar” has kept its asymmetrical positioning of complications similar to their “PanoMaticLunar”. This layout benefits from a logical approach, which becomes familiar and reveals an easy legibility, after the initial encounter. The whole index marked 12 hour display is off center to the left, while the moonphase is in the upper right side. There is also a 60 minute sub-seconds, that cuts into the index markers at the 6 o’clock position, while the rest of it remains partially outside of the time dial. Plus a date aperture on the lower right side. While the brand new annual calendar feature has been placed with a cut-out strip that stretches from the 3 to 6 o'clock positions. The 18k red gold or blued-steel central hands and hour index marked have all been fitted with luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. The limited edition platinum version follows the same asymmetrical layout, but has an open-worked dial with a pitch black flange. This dark theme is further enhanced by the black rhodium made visible by the open-worked sections of the dial.
