Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date
Not only is this not a Swiss made watch, but the “Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date” model also showcases an atypical case design. This vintage inspired timepiece has been seen before in various color variations, now the selection has widened with the addition of a gorgeous dark blue galvanized dial. The tonneau shaped 40mm case is made of stainless-steel, mounted by a square bezel with rounded out corners and a total thickness of 14.1mm. This design is based on vintage aesthetics from the Saxon watchmakers back catalogue. On the flip-side is an exhibition sapphire crystal that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It exposes some blue screws, an openworked rotor, and the gold Glashütte stripes finish on the bridges. It comes equipped with a screw-down crown between a pair of pushers that operate the chronograph functions. The flyback mechanism allows the central stop-seconds to be reset to zero and restarted with a single press of the pusher. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 100 meters (328 feet).Time is exhibited on a galvanized blue dial with rhodium-plated hour index markers, followed by a ring of white printed minutes/seconds markings, with small dots for each hour interval. On the upper half of the dial is a 12-hour chronograph aperture, while the lower-half has a large outsized Panorama date-display, placed above the logo aligned at the 6 o’clock spot.It features two snailed sub-seconds: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position, which also includes a power reserve indicator. The steel polished Dauphine style hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with Super-Luminova, for an enhanced legibility.
