Glashütte Original expands its Senator collection with two new precious-metal watches featuring shimmering aventurine glass dials inspired by the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements. Known for its traditional German watchmaking and signature complications, the manufacture explores a more minimalist approach with these time-only creations, removing conventional hour markers, seconds hands and date displays to emphasize the decorative qualities of the dials. Available in 18k red gold with green aventurine or platinum with blue aventurine, the new Senator Aventurine models are powered by the specially configured manufacture caliber 36-16, offering a 100-hour power reserve.
The Glashütte Original Senator Aventurine models are housed in precious-metal cases measuring 40mm in diameter, 10.2mm thick and 47.09mm from lug to lug. The Art Nouveau Green edition features an 18k red gold case,
while the Art Deco Blue version is crafted from platinum. Both retain the Senator collection’s classical round architecture, with polished bezels and lugs complemented by satin-brushed case flanks. The contrasting finishes emphasize the elegant proportions while allowing the colorful aventurine dials to remain the focal point.
A flat sapphire crystal caseback provides a view of the manufacture caliber 36-16 and its traditional German movement finishing.
Visible details include Glashütte ribbing across the three-quarter plate, a hand-engraved balance cock, sunray-finished winding wheels and a skeletonized double-G rotor fitted with a solid gold oscillating weight. Each movement is assembled from beginning to end by a single watchmaker, reflecting the manufacture’s emphasis on traditional craftsmanship.
The crown is positioned at 3 o’clock, providing access to winding and time-setting functions while preserving the clean silhouette of the case.
A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the dial, complementing the transparent sapphire caseback. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (164 feet).
The defining feature of the Senator Aventurine collection is its use of aventurine glass, a decorative material distinguished by its shimmering inclusions and sense of depth. The Art Nouveau Green model pairs a deep green aventurine dial with an 18k red gold case, drawing inspiration from the organic forms and natural motifs associated with the Art Nouveau movement.
Meanwhile, the Art Deco Blue edition combines a blue aventurine dial with a platinum case, reflecting the cooler palette and refined elegance of the Art Deco period.
Both dials adopt an exceptionally minimalist arrangement, displaying only the hours and minutes without applied indexes, a seconds hand or additional complications. Elegantly curved, pear-shaped hands crafted from solid gold indicate the time, with red gold hands on the green-dial edition and white gold hands on the blue-dial version. The only inscriptions are the Glashütte Original signature and the words “Glashütte i/SA,” printed in glossy white.
A black lacquer coating applied to the reverse side of each aventurine glass disc intensifies the depth and richness of its color. The shimmering surface creates a changing appearance as light moves across the dial, while the absence of conventional markers allows the decorative material to remain uninterrupted. The polished gold hands provide a subtle contrast against the darker backgrounds, maintaining the collection’s restrained and artistic character.

The “Glashütte Original Senator Aventurine Collection” (References below) are powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 36-16 with 27 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 vph, or 4Hz. Developed from the manufacturer's caliber 36 architecture, the movement has been specifically configured for a two-hand display, providing central hours and minutes without a seconds hand or date complication. It incorporates a silicon balance spring, regulator-free adjustment with a swan-neck spring and solid-gold regulating screws, along with a stop-seconds function for precise time setting. Traditional decorative elements include a three-quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing, a hand-engraved balance cock and a skeletonized rotor with a solid gold oscillating weight. Power reserve can last up to 100 hours, when fully wound.
Mounted on these watches are alligator leather straps selected to complement their respective case metals and dial colors. The Senator Aventurine Art Nouveau Green features a brown alligator leather strap secured by an 18k red gold pin buckle, while the Senator Aventurine Art Deco Blue is paired with a dark blue alligator leather strap and a platinum pin buckle. Both configurations maintain the collection’s classical dress-watch character.
