Glashütte Original has unveiled the latest addition to its PanoMaticCalendar line with the limited-edition “Blue of Dawn”, a visually arresting take on the annual calendar complication that blends mechanical mastery with architectural transparency. Limited to just 150 pieces, this new model refines the platinum case format introduced in 2022 with a dramatic skeletonised dial in deep blue, offering layers of texture, depth, and technical elegance under a cut-out display inspired by early morning skies.
This new limited edition is housed in a 42mm platinum case with a thickness of 12.4mm, combining modern proportions with Glashütte Original’s signature balance of restraint and sophistication. Polished bezel surfaces contrast with brushed case flanks, accentuating the three-dimensionality of the skeletonised dial within. The short, curved lugs and minimal crown guard design maintain a dressy profile despite the complexity of the calendar functions. On the reverse side, a sapphire crystal caseback reveals the beautifully finished automatic Calibre 92-11, including Glashütte stripes across the three-quarter plate, hand-polished steel components, chamfered edges, and blued screws. These elements underscore the brand’s commitment to Saxon tradition and high horology, even when the design leans contemporary.
It comes equipped with a fluted platinum crown positioned at 3 o’clock, offering smooth operation for manual adjustments and calendar corrections.
There are no external pushers, maintaining the clean lines and symmetry of the case. All topped by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, enhancing clarity while minimizing glare. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (165 feet).
Time is displayed on an openworked, vinyl-textured dial in a rich “blue of dawn” tone, cut to expose the decorated calibre below while preserving the legibility of the essential indications. The familiar asymmetric layout of the Pano collection remains intact, with hours and minutes on an off-centre subdial overlapping a small seconds register at 7 o’clock.A retrograde month display spans from 3 to 6 o’clock, featuring twelve numerals recessed beneath a blue-tinted sapphire arc. A rotating disc beneath this arc ensures that only the current month is visible, an elegant solution that avoids visual clutter. The signature Panorama Date at 4 o’clock features Glashütte Original’s double-disc construction for seamless readability, requiring manual adjustment only once per year.
At 2 o’clock, a moon phase complication is set against a hand-crafted dark blue sky, speckled with stars. Blued hands, applied white gold hour markers, and luminous dots filled with Super-LumiNova ensure that readability is not sacrificed to the watch’s complex transparency.
The layering of sapphire, metal, and negative space creates a dynamic, almost architectural dial composition.
Glashütte Original PanoMaticCalendar Blue of Dawn
The “Glashütte Original PanoMaticCalendar Blue of Dawn” (References below) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, Calibre 92-11 with 55 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 vph. It features an off-centre time display, retrograde month, Panorama Date, and moon phase complication, all governed by an annual calendar mechanism. Thanks to its twin-barrel construction, power reserve can last up to 100 hours when fully wound. A silicon balance spring ensures long-term stability, precision, and magnetic resistance.
Mounted to the watch is a blue Louisiana alligator leather strap (Ref#: 1-92-11-01-03-61) or a matching synthetic fabric strap (Ref#: 1-92-11-01-03-64), both secured to the wrist by a platinum folding clasp. Limited to just 150 pieces worldwide, the PanoMaticCalendar “Blue of Dawn” combines rare craftsmanship, mechanical ingenuity, and a highly collectible aesthetic.
