Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges Bucherer Blue
Despite how modern and almost futuristic this watch may appear, in actuality the three bridges model has been being produced by Girard-Perregaux since 1884, with skeletonized versions being issued since 1998. Back in 2018 at SIHH they also released the “Neo-Tourbillon with Three Bridges Skeleton” edition. Now for 2022 the latest version appears as a limited edition for the Bucherer Blue collection. The 44mm case is made of grade 5 titanium with brushed case bands and polished surfaces that extend all the way down to the protruding lugs.On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. The caliber movement housed inside required a reduction of the base plate to accommodate two titanium bridges, which is one each for the gear train and tourbillon, mirroring the bridges on the front. It comes equipped with a knurled setting crown, embossed with the GP logo and lyre-shaped spokes. All topped by a box-shaped sapphire crystal on the front and back. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (96 feet).Time is exhibited on a skeletonized dial with applied hour index markers, which have been placed directly on the interior rim of the titanium case. The inclusion of the markers really improves telling time at a glance, compared to Ref#: 99295-21-000-BA6A which came out in 2018, without any indices at all. This timepiece is a significant achievement in terms of craftsmanship and engineering. The three bridges it was named after, appear here in blue due to their Bucherer connection. It’s also adorned with two purple components, both centered on the upper and lower bridge, while the middle bridge was reserved to hold the central white gold hands.Plus the equally impressive flying tourbillon movement can be seen spinning away, around the 6 o’clock position. The central hands and hour index markers have also been fitted with a light cyan blue luminescent filling, for an enhanced legibility.
