Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition
Throughout their relatively short alliance, Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin have forged a rich partnership, resulting in their fifth unique timepiece. It all started back in 2021 with the Tourbillon Three Flying Bridges Aston Martin Edition. A remarkable watch that exhibited a skeletonized triple-bridge tourbillon design encased in black PVD-coated titanium. Next in line was the Laureato Chronograph, injecting British racing green into the series. Followed by the Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition that innovatively incorporated materials salvaged from an Aston Martin Formula One race car for its carbon composite case. The fourth collaboration, the Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin, achieved a pivotal moment as the initial Laureato model sporting a fully green ceramic case and bracelet. Now, the latest addition to the GP Aston Martin collection draws inspiration from the captivating Neo Bridges, showcasing subtle visual enhancements that symbolize their enduring partnership. The 45mm case has a thickness of 12.18mm and is made of sandblasted titanium with black DLC coating. This ultralight material has a predominantly black hue mixed in with anthracite gray details, spread along the polished and satin finishes all the way down its side, including the protruding lugs.On the flipside is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It is decorated with purple ruby jewels and thick Geneva stripes, plus an Aston Martin decal inscribed directly on the sapphire crystal. It comes equipped with a knurled setting crown, embossed with the GP logo and lyre-shaped spokes. All topped by a box-shaped glare-proofed sapphire crystal on the front and back. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (96 feet).Time is exhibited on an openworked dial with applied hour index markers (except for the 12 o’clock spot with the “GP” logo), followed by a minute track ring in fluorescent green markings, all on a sloped flange.Throughout the open dial we get a view of various components, such as twin mainsprings composed of a micro-rotor visible at 10 o’clock adorned with the “Designed by Aston Martin”, while parallel to that is a 48-hour mainspring barrel at 2 o’clock inscribed with “Powered by Girard-Perregaux” etched on the drum. These elements further highlight the collaboration between these two luxury brands.A pair of sandblasted, PVD-treated bridges are visible in the stylish Aston Martin green, which can shine with slightly different hues depending on the light. The central skeletonized hands and the hour index markers have all been treated with a green luminescent filling, for an enhanced legibility.
