The latest chapter in the Girard-Perregaux x Aston Martin partnership takes a mechanical turn with the debut of the Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition (Ref. 81015-32-3538-32A). This limited edition of just 88 pieces brings a darker, more technical aesthetic to the collaboration by pairing the brand’s openworked Laureato with stealthy black ceramic and Aston Martin’s signature racing green. A green PVD-treated rotor and subtle dial accents pay tribute to the British marque, while the exposed mechanics highlight the architectural depth of the GP01800-2627 calibre.
Crafted entirely from black ceramic, the 42mm case of the Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition combines high-tech construction with refined finishing. Its octagonal bezel rests atop a barrel-shaped case with clean, geometric lines and a uniform brushed finish throughout. The combination of the dark tone and the integrated bracelet lends the watch a sleek, stealth-like presence on the wrist. The case measures 11.13mm in height, keeping the watch relatively slim for a skeletonised automatic sports model. The integration of the bracelet ensures the Laureato retains its signature flow from case to strap, echoing the continuity of 1970s luxury sports watch design. Lightweight yet highly scratch-resistant, the ceramic structure ensures everyday durability without sacrificing elegance.
The crown sits at 3 o’clock, flanked by protective shoulders, and is signed with the GP logo. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the openworked dial, while a sapphire exhibition caseback reveals the movement and a metallised Aston Martin emblem. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).
The openworked dial takes center stage, with bridges and plates cut away to reveal the movement’s intricate architecture. Against this mechanical backdrop, Girard-Perregaux applies a deep racing green to the suspended indices and handset, subtle yet unmistakable nods to Aston Martin’s signature color palette. The GP logo at 12 o’clock is applied in matching green, suspended elegantly above the open mechanics for added visual depth.
At 10 o’clock, a small seconds sub-dial is partially skeletonised to harmonise with the rest of the open display, while the power barrel between 5 and 6 o’clock and the balance wheel at 12 o’clock provide a dynamic, layered layout that keeps the eye moving across the dial. This open structure feels akin to looking under the hood of a high-performance machine, where each component plays a visible role.
For nighttime visibility, the indices and hands are treated with green luminous material, offering clarity in low-light environments. This luminous application, paired with the dial’s suspended architecture, ensures that legibility remains uncompromised despite its highly skeletonised design.
