Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph Ice Blue

First introduced in 1975, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato is one of the original luxury sports watches, blending sophisticated design with robust functionality. Over the years, the Laureato has evolved into a versatile collection, offering a wide array of sizes, materials, and complications. Now, as the 50th anniversary of this iconic model approaches, Girard-Perregaux discreetly unveils the Laureato Chronograph Ice Blue, a stunning new iteration featuring a fresh and modern dial color that elevates the model’s timeless appeal. Limited to just 180 pieces, this new release continues the Laureato’s tradition of combining classic luxury with contemporary style.

The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph Ice Blue is housed in a 904L stainless steel case, measuring 42mm in diameter and 12.01mm in thickness. Known for its exceptional resistance to corrosion and its distinctive sheen, 904L steel enhances the durability and elegance of this watch. The case design retains the hallmark Laureato features, including the signature barrel-shaped middle case and the complex octagonal-circular bezel. The brushed and polished surfaces interplay beautifully to emphasize its luxurious and sporty appeal. On the reverse side, a closed steel caseback shields the movement within. While the decision to forgo a sapphire display might disappoint some enthusiasts, the solid back reinforces the robust construction. Subtle engravings on the caseback provide a nod to the model’s exclusivity as one of only 180 pieces available worldwide.
Its screw-down crown and chronograph pushers are well-guarded, ensuring security and functionality. All topped by a sapphire crystal providing scratch resistance and exceptional clarity, within the Laureato line's signature octagonal bezel, enhancing the architectural elegance. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).

The dial of the “Laureato Chronograph Ice Blue” is the standout feature, boasting a light ice-blue hue that brings a fresh and modern aesthetic to the classic Laureato design. Retaining the Clou de Paris guilloché texture, the intricate pattern adds depth and texture, reflecting light beautifully and enhancing the dial’s overall sophistication.

The subdials, presented in a tone-on-tone layout, seamlessly blend with the ice-blue backdrop, ensuring a harmonious and uncluttered appearance. Positioned at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, the chronograph counters and small seconds subdial are framed with crisp precision, offering excellent legibility. A date window, thoughtfully color-matched to the dial, resides discreetly between 4 and 5 o’clock, maintaining symmetry.Accentuating the dial’s functionality are rhodium-plated hands and applied markers, each filled with Super-LumiNova for enhanced readability in low light conditions. The combination of vibrant blue and polished metallic elements strikes a perfect balance between elegance and utility, making it as functional as it is visually striking.
