Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Passion
Back at last year's SIHH convention, Girard-Perregaux introduced a new variation on their “Laureato” collection, which was dubbed “Laureato Absolute”. Now for 2020 they are adding yet another flavour in the form of a colorful racing-themed limited edition they’ve designated as “Laureato Absolute Passion”.
The 44mm case is made of titanium with a PVD treatment that renders it with a black tone. On the flip-side we encounter a solid case back adorned with a big red engraved "A" for "absolute". Mounted to the case is this collection's signature octagonal shaped bezel, crafted out of matching PVD coated titanium.
It comes equipped with two rectangular pushers to operate the chronograph functions and setting-crown engraved with the GP logo tucked away between, while also surrounded by crown guards.
These pushers have been redesigned from previous to be more angular and have been given a subtle red highlight, which matched the overall color scheme. All topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 300 meters (985 feet).
Time is exhibited on a matte black dial with red (which is how the official GP website describes this color, although we believe burgundy would be a better description) hour index markers, followed by a ring of white seconds and minute index marking circling around the periphery of the dial.
It features three red sub-dials: a sub-seconds at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and a 30-minute counter at the 9 o'clock position. This dial has a layered sandwich-style construction with sunken sub-dials and a sloped minute ring.
There is also a date aperture placed between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions. The central hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
