Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Chronograph Ti49 iN Titanium

The Laureato has undergone a multitude of transformations over the years with each iteration boasting distinctive characteristics in terms of design, size, materials, and complications. From its inception in 1975, where it debuted with a quartz movement, to its subsequent evolution in 1984 with the introduction of mechanical calibers and complications, the journey of the Laureato has been marked by significant milestones. These milestones continued to shape its narrative in 1995 and 2004 with the emergence of the Laureato EVO 3. In 2016, the saga witnessed a resurgence with the release of a limited edition duo, followed by the launch of a permanent collection in 2017 by Girard-Perregaux, which stayed true to the original essence while offering a diverse array of variants in colors, materials, and complications. Now they’ve finally added a titanium option to the permanent collection. The 42mm barrel-shaped case with a height of 12mm  is made of grade 5 titanium with a mix of overall brushed surfaces that oppose the polished bevels. Mounted to the case is this collection's signature octagonal shaped bezel, crafted out of matching titanium with a circular brushed finish, which contrasts nicely with the horizontal brushed finish seen on the case and integrated bracelet. On the flip-side is a screwed-on titanium caseback  engraved with a large inscription that takes up most of the center portion and reads “LAUREATO” and “CHRONOGRAPH”, while some technical info is seen on the outer rim. It comes equipped with two polished round pushers to operate the chronograph functions and a setting-crown engraved with the GP logo tucked away between, while also surrounded by crown guards. All topped by a sapphire crystal that assists with water-resistance reaching up to 100 meters (328 feet).Time is exhibited on a gray dial with a “Clous de Paris” hobnail motif with gray PVD-treated indices, while circling around the flange is a sold gray minute track with white markers. It features a Tri-Compax chronograph layout with concentric pattern on the sub-dials: small seconds at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and a 30-minute counter at the 9 o'clock position.  The central hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a tone-on-tone  date window between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions.
