Girard-Perregaux Laureato 42 Green
A virescent hue was cast in the latest releases thanks to Girard-Perregaux expanding their Laureato collection with a new green dial. This classic model was first introduced in 1975 and yet its iconic design seems as modern as ever. The aesthetic allure of this multi-piece case with an octagonal bezel seems to evade age. Plus this recent makeover adds an extra color option to widen its appeal. The 42mm case is made of stainless-steel with a satin-brushed finish, while mounted by the model's signature octagon-over-circle shaped bezel. The circular portion adds a polished contrast to the overall look.On the flip-side is a transparent sapphire exhibition case back that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. The oscillating weight features its branding in a golden inscription. It comes equipped with a knurled crown embossed with the GP logo. This crown, the circular ring of the bezel, and center links of the bracelet, together provide a polished contrast that enhances each individual part. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a green dial with a “Clous de Paris” hobnail motif with white hour index markers, followed by a black ring circling around the flange with thin white printed minute index markers and thicker marks for each five-minute increment, to enhance contrast. The upper-half features the prominent “GP” logo at the 12 o’clock position, while underneath is a plaque with “GIRARD-PERREGAUX”, and the lower-half reads “LAUREATO AUTOMATIC”, all printed with the brand's historic serif-style font. There is also a date window with a green background and white numerals at the 3 o’clock position. All these color and layout choices allow the three dominant hues to highlight each other in a harmoniously juxtaposed manner. Its central sword-shaped hands have a black outline with white interior, which elegantly mimics the aesthetics of the minute-track. The central hands and hour index markers have undergone a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility.
