Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Smoked Green Aventurine

Several new versions of the “Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon” were recently released. Just like the “onyx” edition this watch is also composed of a mixture of alloys, which harmoniously mix together within its unique construction. This model features an enchanted “star-lit sky” thanks to its aventurine dial vibes. The 41mm case is made up mostly of 18k rose gold with the caseback, to bezel, and stylistic semi-hollow lugs. But the middle case is made of black ceramic, which meshs with the black portion of the aventurine dial.Mounted to the case is a rose gold bezel that extends the height of this watch to 11.8mm. This serves to properly secure the double curved sapphire, while wrapping around the black lacquered inner bezel, inscribed with a 60-minute scale. On the flip-side is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It comes decorated with several jewels and an 18k gold oscillating weight adorned with a cutout AP logo. It comes equipped with a knurled setting crown, embossed with the AP logo. Attention to detail is the norm for the 11.59 series. The sapphire crystal has an arched profile that plays with depth, perspective and light for a unique optic experience. Its internal surface is shaped like a dome with a double curved design. Water-resistance can last up to 30 meters (98 feet). Time is exhibited on a smoked green enameled aventurine dial with gold applied hour indices and the Arabic numerals 3, 9, and 12, followed by a printed minute track ring. The twinkling green aventurine dial is also imbued with a gradient effect that darkens into a deep pitch black as it nears the periphery flange. But, most of our attention tends to focus towards its dreamy center that appears to be star-lit with specks of shiny particles within a smokey green mist. The internal surface is also shaped like a dome and can create interesting lighting glares against the arched profile. The central 18k rose gold sword-shaped hands have not been applied with any luminescent coating. But set against this very dark surface, both the hands and elevated numerals manage to naturally glimmer against their backdrop. The “Audemars Piguet” signature can be seen on the upper-half. While on the lower-half the dominant hue is interrupted by a flying tourbillon that stretches from mid-center to the 6 o’clock position. Framed by a golden circle, followed by a smaller gold circle within, plus a rose gold cage, as the top layer with exposed screws at work.
