Chopard Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF
Lately many luxury sports watches have been released with integrated bracelets, but neither that or the gorgeous dial are the main highlight of this release. Most mechanical watches tend to tick between 2.5Hz and 4Hz, although higher frequency movements are able to provide increased precision and stability. Chopard put this concept to the test by conducting research that led them to develop a few experimental 8Hz movements. Now they’ve enhanced this new limited edition “Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF” with its caliber 01.12-C ticking at 57,600 Vph.The “Alpine Eagle” collection was conceived to support the “Eagle Wings Foundation”, which was founded by the president of Chopard, Karl-Friedrich Scheufelle. Those seeking more information on these noble efforts can do so by visiting: www.eaglewingsfoundation.org/The 41mm case is made out of grade 5 titanium with a mixture of brushed and polished finishes. On the flip-side we encounter a transparent sapphire exhibition caseback, which allows us to view the inner workings of this upgraded in-house movement.Mounted to the case is a rounded bezel held in place by 8 screws in pairs, aligned at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock positions. Their slots have been placed at a tangent towards the bezels circle. This bezel is very reminiscent of those seen on models, such as the: Audemar Piguet’s Royal Oak, IWC’s Ingenieur or Patek Philippe’s Nautilus; but this is clearly a legit and solid alternative by Chopard. It also comes equipped with a setting-crown that has been engraved with the Chopard logo. All topped by a sapphire crystal, which assists this timepiece in reaching a water-resistance of up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a brass dial that’s been stamped with a sunburst pattern in a patinated “Vals Grey” colour. The matching rhodium-plated applied hour index markers, Roman numerals, and central baton-style hours/minutes hands have all been fitted with a Grade X1 luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. A ring of smaller minute markings can also be seen circling around the periphery of the dial.Inspiration for this dial's overall aesthetics can be directly attributed to the eagle’s iris, from which this collection's name was derived. There is also a date aperture tucked-away between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions.
