Bvlgari Octo Roma Worldtimer

As more and more travel bans get lifted we decided to recall the “Bvlgari Octo Roma Worldtimer” which was released during the most recent “Geneva Watch Days” event. Among the various “Octo” models available, the “Octo Roma” was considered the simpler option, so the inclusion of a travel time feature has definitely boosted its level of complication and possible appeal. This trademark multi-layer octagonal case with 110 facets, exudes a subtle craftsmanship that offers an undeniable appeal. It comes in a 41mm diameter available in two options: stainless steel (blue dial) with satin-brushed and polished finishes or in steel with a black DLC coating (black dial). On the flip-side is an exhibition case back, which allows us to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement. This chamfered and snailed movement is also decorated with a Côtes de Genève motif and several golden gears. They come equipped with a screw-lock crown set with a ceramic inlay that serves to set the time, as well as the city's indications. All topped by a sapphire crystal, which also assists with water-resistance on this watch reaching up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on a sunburst blue or sandblasted matte black dial, both with rhodium-plated gold hour markers and the Arabic numerals 6 and 12.The conjunction and juxtaposition of a revolving time zone ring and revolving 24-hour scale ring enable the instant reading of the current time in 24 cities simultaneously. We can choose our “home city” at the top and set the hour and minute hands normally. Once that is done the 24-hour ring seen between the city ring and the center part of the dial are linked and will always display the correct home time. Some users might have preferred to see a separate GMT hand, but this layout is equally effective. The central skeletonized steel or blackened steel hands, plus the numerals and hour index markers have all been fitted with a Super-LumiNova coating, for an enhanced legibility.
