Bulgari Bulgari iN 2024

Bulgari refreshes its iconic Bulgari Bulgari wristwatch, harkening back to its original design. Introduced in 1977 as Bulgari's inaugural wristwatch, the timepiece was crafted by Gerald Genta, featuring a sleek bezel adorned with the brand name, drawing inspiration from ancient Roman currency. While the model has endured in various iterations over the years, the latest rendition embraces the simplicity of its roots, boasting a minimalist dial and a compact 38 mm case, currently offered exclusively in either 18k yellow or rose gold. The round 38mm case is available made out of 18k yellow or rose gold with an overall polished finish. Undoubtedly, this downsized case mirrors a prevailing trend observed in other brands, where many are opting for cases ranging from 35 mm to 39 mm, frequently embracing a vintage-inspired aesthetic. On the flipside is a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features several jewels, golden gears and an oscillating weight decorated with gilt “BVLGARI” inscription.Drawing inspiration from the curved inscriptions found on ancient Roman coins, the distinctive double logo etched onto the bezel encasing the white opaline dial propelled the brand's name to the revered status of an iconic design house. It comes equipped with a knurled setting-crown, which further embraces a minimalist approach by excluding any logo embossing. Water-resistance can reach up to 50 meters (164 feet). The 18k yellow gold variant faithfully echoes the 1977 original, showcasing a black dial adorned with yellow gold indices and numerals. While in contrast, the rose gold edition presents a silver-opaline dial complemented by rose gold indices and the same Arabic numerals for 6 and 12 o’clock. The latest releases, however, mark a departure from the alterations made in 2014, which introduced a sleeker bezel, streamlined lugs, and the in-house BVL 191 movement, alongside the introduction of a larger, 41 mm model. Now, the brand is returning to its original styling for the most part. The new dial incorporates the same design elements as the original, such as baton hour indices and Arabic numerals at six and 12, while also adding a date window and center seconds.
