Bulgari Aluminum Chronograph 41mm

Since the first-generation launched back in 1998, the Bulgari Aluminium collection has carved out its own niche in the luxury sport watch category. The combination of aluminum, rubber, as unconventional materials is on trend with many current market disruptions. These new releases come in a 41mm case, up one millimeter from previous models. The panda dial returns on a larger canvas, and for those in search of more novelty, the all black dial is making its first appearance.These watches have defined themselves as being made of aluminum, which provides a very light weight of only 68.6 grams. Since aluminum is 75% lighter than steel and 40% lighter than titanium, it becomes a very comfortable choice, while still offering a sturdy resilience. But, unlike previous models, these two versions introduce a slightly larger case size of 41mm instead of 40 mm.On the flip-side is a titanium caseback DLC-coated in black for an increased durability and scratch resistance. Engravings are limited to technical specifications and branding, without any particular theme. It comes equipped with two push buttons to operate the chronograph functions and a setting-crown between them. All these pieces have also been crafted out of titanium with a black DLC-coating. This combination of alloys has been done before with stylish success. But, in these models it mimics the dial aesthetics in a very harmonious flow.Mounted to the case is a black rubber bezel with the iconic double “BVLGARI BVLGARI” logo engraving, evocative of historic Roman coins. The aluminum “door hinge” lugs and case sides, again contrast nicely with the black coated pushers and crown. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).Time is exhibited on either a classic black and white “panda” dial, or a brand new all black option. From there each version has contrasting colors for the applied hour index markers with aluminum tips and the solo Arabic numeral at the 12 o’clock position. Plus discreetly running alongside the periphery is a minute track ring.There are three black or white counters with snailed interiors: a sub-seconds at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6, and a 30-minute counter at the 9 o’clock position. All with white numerals, markers, and hands, while a speck of red is seen on the syringe-style tip of the chronograph hand.The central sword-shaped hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with Super-LumiNova, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date window with a white background and black numerals placed between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions.

The “Bulgari Aluminum Chronograph” (References below) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber B381 with 28,800 vph. This is a new movement based on the Sellita SW300 with a Dubois-Depraz module on top.
