Bulgari Aluminum Capri Editions

As we’re about to enter August many may be preparing for vacations and diving into cool waters. With these thoughts in mind Bulgari recently released a new pair for their Aluminium collection inspired by the island of Capri. One look at the dials Mediterranean shade of blue is capable of inducing calmer vibes, especially during the highs and lows of summer season. Potential buyers can opt between a chronograph or simpler time and date option. These watches come in a round 40mm case made of the same material they’re named after: aluminum. This uncommonly used material has been well accepted by the majority of the public due to its light weight. Since aluminum is 75% lighter than steel and 40% lighter than titanium, it becomes a very comfortable choice, while still offering a sturdy resilience.On the flip-side is a titanium caseback DLC-coated in black for an increased durability and scratch resistance. Both models have been engraved the Faraglioni of Capri, which are some of the rock formations that add to the natural beauty of these Italian islands. Both models are equipped with a setting-crown between discrete crown guards, while the chronograph version also includes two push buttons to operate the chronograph functions. All these elements have also been crafted out of titanium with a black DLC-coating. Once again a fine mix of materials that imbues these models with stylish charisma.Mounted to the case is a blue rubber bezel with the iconic double “BVLGARI BVLGARI” logo engraving, evocative of historic Roman coins. The aluminum “door hinge” lugs and case sides contrast nicely with the black coated pushers and crown, plus the plus strap and bezel. Water-resistance can reach up to 100 meters (330 feet).The “Bulgari Aluminum Capri Solotempo” exhibits time on a gradient blue dial inspired by the Mediterranean water with darker blue hour indexes and the Arabic numerals: 6 and 12, while circling the flange is a printed minute ring track.The central sword-shaped hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with Super-LumiNova, for an enhanced legibility. Plus the silvered central seconds hand has a yellow tip to highlight its presence among the overall blue hue, while adding an extra speck of color to the overall palette. There is also a date window with a white background and black numerals placed at the 3 o’clock position.

The “Bulgari Aluminum Capri Solotempo” (Ref#: 103815) is powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, caliber B77 with 25 jewels and 28,800 vph. It is based on the iconic ETA 2892 base movement. The “Bulgari Aluminum Capri Chronograph” exhibits time on the same gradient blue inspired by the Mediterranean sea with darker blue hour indexes and a single Arabic numerals at 12 o’clock, while circling the flange is also a printed minute track ring.But as a chronograph it features three black counters with snailed interiors: a sub-seconds at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6, and a 30-minute counter at the 9 o’clock position. All with white numerals, markers, plus yellow hands, which nicely match the syringe-style tip of the chronograph hand.The central sword-shaped hands and hour index markers have all been fitted with Super-LumiNova, for an enhanced legibility. There is also a date window with a white background and black numerals placed between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions.
