Breitling Superocean E-Commerce Edition
When we talk about diving watches, many brands come to mind, but not necessarily Breitiling since we associate them more with aviation. Meanwhile we can trace the heritage of the “Breitling Superocean” all the way back to the 1950’s, at the height of dive watch innovation. It's a commonly overlooked option and Breitling has just released a new exclusive E-commerce edition for our consideration. The 42mm case is made of stainless-steel with brush finished surfaces and lugs, while the flanks of the case have a contrasting polished finish. Mounted to the case is a ratcheted unidirectional rotating steel bezel with a black anodized aluminum insert, which can be used to track the elapsed time for underwater diving, or tracking laps.On the flip-side is a solid steel screw-on case back, which has been engraved with the iconic Breitling logo of wings and an anchor, plus the “Superocean” inscription in cursive font.It comes equipped with a screw-down locked setting-crown that includes two gaskets to reinforce this watch's water-resistance, further protected by a pair of crown guards. All topped by a cambered sapphire crystal glare-proofed on both sides. Water-resistance on this watch can reach up to 500 meters (1,650 feet).Time is exhibited on a black dial with white hour index markers and the Arabic numerals: 6, 9 and 12; while circling around a sloped flange is a red minute track with double-digit numerals for every 5-minute increment. The central steel hands, hour index markers and Arabic numerals have all been fitted with a luminescent coating, for an enhanced legibility. Its seconds’ hand was also given a red outlined arrow-tip with a small luminescent triangle shaped interior. There is also a white date window at the 3 o’clock position.
