Breitling Navitimer Singapore Airlines 

Recently one of the most aviation minded brands teamed up with one of the world’s best airlines to create a pair of limited edition timepieces. We’re referring to a joint venture between Breitling and Singapore Airlines. Both have legit reasons to rejoice as Breitling is celebrating the 70th anniversary of their Navitimer collection, while Singapore Airlines has been ranked as a top carrier for over two decades.Let’s start by taking a closer look at this 38mm model made in stainless-steel with an overall polished finish. While mounted to the case is a fixed steel bezel made of small beads.On the flip-side is a solid steel caseback that has been engraved with the batik motif of the SIA crew uniform. For those unfamiliar with Asia culture, batik is a dyed fabric with a floral pattern that originated in Indonesia.  It comes equipped with a knurled non screw-locked setting-crown with two gaskets, and embossed with the Breitling “B” logo. Time is exhibited on a blue dial with gold applied hour index markers, followed by a ring of white printed markers to track nautical stats in MPH or in red if you prefer to rely on KM. While circling around the dial on the sloped inner bezel is the famous slide ruler in black with white numerals.The gold central sword-shaped hour/minute hands and applied hour index markers have all been fitted with a luminescent filling, for enhanced legibility. Plus the chronometer hand is further highlighted by a red arrow tip and “B” shaped counter-weight. There is also a black date window located at the 6 o’clock position.

Breitling Navitimer Automatic 38 Singapore Airlines

The “Breitling Navitimer Automatic 38 Singapore Airlines” (Ref#: A173252A1C1A1) is powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical movement, caliber B17 with 25 jewels and 28,800 vph. Power reserve can last up to 38 hours, when fully wound.

Next up we got the bigger 41mm chronograph option also made out of stainless-steel, but with different finishing touches, such as brushed case bands. Mounted to this model is a notched bi-directional rotating bezel, which differs from the smaller bead version.

This option also differs on the flip-side by having a sapphire exhibition caseback that allows a view into the inner workings of the mechanical movement. It features several shiny jewels, gold gears, and a balance wheel decorated by a gold “Breitling” inscription.It comes equipped with two push-pieces to operate the chronograph functions. Plus a setting-crown that instead of the brand’s “B” logo has been embossed with the Singapore Airlines logo. Both models are topped by a cambered sapphire crystal with a glare proof coating on both sides. Water-resistance can reach up to 30 meters (96 feet).Time is also exhibited on a blue dial with gold applied hour index markers, followed by a ring white printed markers and a nautical track. But instead of a sloped inner bezel this model has the slide ruler on a flat flange.There are three sloped sub-dials with snailed interiors: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at the 6 o’clock (which also includes a date window), and a sub-seconds at the 9 o’clock position. The use of this distinct blue hue and the gold hands and index markers was to mimic the official color scheme of the Singapore Airlines. The chronograph appears all in red on this model with a gold counter-weight.

Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 41 Singapore Airlines

The “Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 41 Singapore Airlines” (Ref#: AB01392A1C1A1) by a self-winding mechanical movement, Breitling 01 caliber with 47 jewels and 28,800 vph. Power reserve can last up to 70 hours, when fully wound.Mounted to both models is a stainless-steel bracelet, secured by a folding clasp. These are limited editions of only 100 manufactured timepieces each, that are exclusively available at the Singapore Airlines KrisShop.
